Brocchi ponders what Coppa Italia win with Milan might have meant for coaching career | OneFootball

Cristian Brocchi was given just a few months in charge of AC Milan, but he feels that things could have been very different if he had been given a chance.

Football can be a tremendously cruel game at the best of times, and Brocchi definitely feels like he has been a victim of this. In fact, we go back to April 2016, when the Italian was granted the role of being the Milan head coach, replacing Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Unfortunately, though, he was only granted a few months in this role before being replaced by Vincenzo Montella in June of that year.

Today, he has spoken about why he feels his time with the Rossoneri could have ended differently if given a chance, and he spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport, via Calciomercato.com, about why this is the case.

“I had already said it the year before, that night [the Coppa Italia final vs. Juventus in 2016], it wasn’t possible. When you entered Arcore, the emotion was strong. There was a particular atmosphere. You left there, and you were a lion.

“Berlusconi had the ability to make you feel capable of conquering the world. I replaced Mihajlovic, and the plan was that I would also start the following season. It went badly because we lost the Coppa Italia final against Juve in extra time due to Morata’s goal, despite playing well.

“If we had won that night, my story would have been different.”

Considering Sergio Conceicao will probably leave the club even if he wins the Coppa Italia, it is strange to see how roles have been reversed.
