The Robins completed their first signing since the market opened, with striker Fally Mayulu arriving from Austrian side Rapid Wien for an undisclosed fee.

Having made that move, the 21-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year deal that secures his future at Ashton Gate until the end of the 2027/28 season.

But even with that deal now completed, there is still plenty of work to be done in the window, if Liam Manning's side are to improve on their 11th place finish in the Championship from last season.

There is therefore, plenty more news and speculation surrounding the club currently circulating, with plenty of time remaining before the market closes.

So with that in mind, we've taken a look at the top Bristol City news stories to have emerged recently, right here.

Having completed the signing of one striker in Mayulu, it looks as though the Robins are now working on the addition of another centre forward for their squad.

According to a report from Bristol Live, the club are in talks Dinamo Zagreb over the signing of striker Sandro Kulenovic. It is thought that a deal is not yet close, but that there is a hope it can be completed.

The 24-year-old has apparently previously turned down moves to England with Nottingham Forest and Barnsley. He is though, now in the final year of his contract with the Croatian giants, which could open the door for a move to Bristol City.

Having previously played in the club's youth setup, Kulenovic returned to Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2019, and has since scored 11 goals in 54 appearances in all competitions, while also spending time on loan elsewhere.

There does seem to be something of an international flavour to Bristol City's transfer links so far this summer.

According to reports from Sponichi, the Robins are in the final stages of a move to sign winger Yu Hirakawa from Machida Zelvia.

The 23-year-old is part of a remarkable story, having helped Zelvia win promotion to the top-flight of Japanese football for the first time in their history last year, and they are now five points clear at the top of the J League with 17 games to go.

It is suggested that Hirakawa is set to join Bristol City on an initial loan deal, that will then include the option to buy the winger, who has 12 goals and 11 assists in 71 games for Zelvia during his senior career so far.

Moussa Sylla chooses Schalke deal

One apparent target who will not be making the move to Ashton Gate this summer, is winger Mousse Sylla.

The winger spent last season on loan at Pau FC from their French second-tier rivals SM Caen, and impressed with 16 goals and seven assists in 37 appearances. It was then announced last week that the 24-year-old has completed a move to German second-tier side Schalke on a four-year deal.

However, according to a report from Bristol Live, he also had the chance to make the move to the Championship with the Robins this summer.

It is thought that Bristol City and Schalke had been narrowed down to the last two teams in the race to sign Sylla, only for the winger to eventually decide to make that move to Germany that has now been confirmed.
