Seagulls boast a strong recent record against Pep Guardiola’s side ahead of Amex clash
Manchester City will be hoping to get back to winning ways in the Premier League at Brighton today.
After dismantling Wolves 4-0 in their opening game of the new campaign, Man City were dealt a reality check last week as they were beaten 2-0 at home by Tottenham.
In truth, Pep Guardiola’s side were second best against Spurs as summer signings Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki struggled on their home debuts.
Next up for City is a tricky test away at a Brighton side who warmed up for this fixture by thumping Oxford 6-0 on Wednesday night to reach the Carabao Cup third round.
However, it has been a different story in the Premier League for the Seagulls so far. Without a win in two, drawing at home to Fulham before losing to Everton, although their finishing has let them down in both games.
Brighton vs Man City is scheduled for a 2pm BST kick-off today on Sunday, August 31, 2025.
The match will take place at the Amex Stadium in Brighton.
TV channel: In the UK, the game will be televised live on Sky Sports. Coverage starts at 1pm on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Ultra HDR.
Live stream: Sky Sports subscribers can also catch the contest live online via the Sky Go app.
Free highlights: Match of the Day broadcasts on BBC One at 10.30pm on Sunday.
Brighton’s Adam Webster has been ruled out for a large portion of the season after undergoing knee surgery last month. The defender, along with Solly March and Julio Enciso, who is leaving for Strasbourg, are definitely out.
Georginio Rutter missed the 2-0 loss at Everton and the win over Oxford. The forward is an option to be available against City but it will be a “close thing”.
Head coach Fabian Hurzeler is expected to revert to his Premier League XI having rested a number of big names for the midweek cup tie.
Rayan Ait-Nouri was forced off early against Spurs, but the Man City summer signing has been passed fit.
Josko Gvardiol, Savinho and Claudio Echeverri are all doubtful, while Mateo Kovavic remains sidelined with an injury that caused him to miss the Club World Cup earlier in the summer.
Phil Foden and Rodri are pushing to start after coming off the bench against Spurs. The same can be said for captain Bernardo Silva as well as Jeremy Doku.
Boost: Rayan Ait-Nouri

Man City looked imperious against Wolves but reverted back to a lot of last season’s performances in the home loss to Spurs. As a result, it’s tough to know what City side will turn up at the Amex.
Keep in mind that Guardiola’s side struggled in both meetings with Brighton last season, this is a tricky encounter for the visitors.
The hosts are creating chances but have lacked a cutting edge so far. The 6-0 win over Oxford will have boosted morale but City are an entirely different proposition and this one could be a high-scoring draw.
Draw, 2-2.
Brighton did not lose in either meeting with Man City last season, coming from behind to win the home fixture before claiming a well-deserved point at the Etihad.
Brighton wins: 7
Man City wins: 21
Draws: 6
Brighton to win: 13/5
Man City to win: 1/1
