Stade Brestois’ Pierre Lees-Melou (31) has been crowned Ligue 1’s Player of the Year by Get French Football News (GFFN) with the midfielder topping the 2024 edition of the GFFN 100.
The Frenchman was the star man as Brest secured their highest league finish, qualifying for European football for the first time in the Breton club’s history. He was influential in that run to third place for Éric Roy’s side. Injuries have restricted Lees-Melou to just eight appearances in all competitions this season, although he did make his impact felt in the UEFA Champions League, netting a volley at Les Ty-Zéfs drew against Bayer Leverkusen.
Lees-Melou finished ahead of Lille OSC’s Jonathan David with Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola completing the podium. AS Monaco’s Denis Zakaria finished fourth, PSG’s Vitinha fifth, Lucas Chevalier (Lille) sixth, Wilfried Singo (Monaco) seventh, Edon Zhegrova (Lille) eighth, João Neves (PSG) ninth, with Les Parisiens’ Ousmane Dembélé rounding out the top 10.
