Both sides still harbour slight European ambitions with everything on the line in this encounter.
Yoane Wissa has scored in each of his last four Premier League outings, taking his total for the season to 18 – level with Bryan Mbeumo as Brentford’s top scorer. Only Chris Wood (19), Erling Haaland (21), Alexander Isak (23) and Mohamed Salah (28) have scored more. Wissa has been in great form this season, along with Mbeumo, with both players being linked with moves away from the Gtech Stadium this summer.
Mark Flekken has been forced into a league-high 4.2 saves per 90 minutes in the Premier League this season. Fulham will be on the attack, knowing that anything less than a win will leave their slim European hopes hanging by a thread and this could lead to plenty of chances for the Cottagers. Flekken could find himself a busy man as a result but with his record in goal this season will be hopeful of keeping Fulham at bay.
Both these sides still harbour faint hopes of qualifying for Europe, though the focus is more realistically going to be on securing a top-half finish.
Brentford are in excellent form at the time of writing, winning their last four and losing just one of their last eight. Those win have come against Brighton, Nottingham Forest, Man Utd and Ipswich showing Brentford’s ability to get the job done against sides around them in the table and they’ll be hoping to add another scalp to that list when they take on Fulham this weekend.
Fulham, meanwhile, five lost five of their last eight league games, but have beaten Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Southampton during that time. They’ve lost four of their last five however, including a 3-1 loss against Everton last time out. Their European ambitions are already slim but anything less than a win in this tie will see their hopes dashed for another season.
Aaron Hickey could finally return to the squad for this match alongside Fabio Carvalho and Joshua Dasilva. However, Vitaly Janelt is out for the rest of the season.
Reiss Nelson could return for this match but it’ll probably come too soon for Brazilian striker Rodrigo Muniz.
Fulham won 2-1 at Craven Cottage in the earlier meeting between these two. Prior to that, Brentford had gone three unbeaten against their London rivals.
