Sky Germany reports that Bayer Leverkusen are interested in Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken as they look to upgrade their number one position in the summer.
The ex-Freiburg keeper, who moved to England in 2023, has a contract in West London until 2027 and would cost around €15m.
Flekken made his name in Germany playing for Alemannia Aachen, Greuther Fürth, Duisburg and Freiburg and since moving to England, has been a solid option in goal for Brentford.
The Dutch international is not the only candidate for Leverkusen. As previously reported, Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia is head coach Xabi Alonso’s preferred goalkeeping option. While Manchester City’s Stefan Ortega is also of interest, as he will fit into the registration requirements for the Champions League.
Change is expected in the Leverkusen goal in the summer. Matej Kovar is set to leave as he is not seen as number one material. While Lukas Hradecky will fight for the number one spot with the future goalkeeper, but will likely be demoted to ‘1B’.
