Inter Milan star Carlos Augusto could have a busy season ahead, with Simone Inzaghi possibly deploying him in multiple roles.

The Brazilian rose to fame during his time at Monza, cementing himself as one of the most exciting wingbacks in Italian football.

He showcased a knack for scoring goals and producing assists for his teammates.

The 25-year-old’s exploits at the U-Power Stadium earned him a move to Inter last summer. He arrived as a replacement for Robin Gosens, thus acting as Federico Dimarco’s understudy.

But in the middle of the season, the Nerazzurri brought in Tajon Buchanan who became Dimarco’s backup on the left flank.

Hence, this allowed Inzaghi to test Augusto in a deeper position. The latter surprisingly morphed into a left centre-back, acting as Alessandro Bastoni’s understudy.

But with Buchanan suffering an injury while on international duty, Inter have resorted to the market.

Most sources expect Inzaghi to bring back Augusto to his original role on the wing and sign a new defender.

Nevertheless, the club’s new owners Oaktree Capital are only willing to sign a young profile who adheres to the club’s guidelines.

So according to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInter1908, it remains unclear whether or not the club directors will find a suitable profile for the role.

News reports have been linking the Italian champions with a host of candidates. However, there hasn’t been concrete progress on this track as of late.

But in the meantime, Augusto could prove to be the solution on both fronts.

In other words, the Brazil international would serve as a backup for both Dimarco and Bastoni. This could be the case until December when Buchanan returns to the fold.

Augusto’s contract with the Nerazzurri is valid until June 2028.
