Former Manchester United defender Brandon Williams is reportedly closing in on a return to football after a recent sighting at Hull City.
Williams’ career has not gone as expected since he was released by United in 2024. He came through the ranks at the club’s famed youth system and notched an impressive 51 first-team appearances before his departure.
He has been without a club since then, with his only other senior appearances coming on loan at Norwich and Ipswich Town.
In May this year, the Englishman was handed a 14-month prison sentence, suspended for two years after crashing his vehicle at more than 90mph on August 20, 2023.
He was banned from driving for three years and ordered to complete 180 hours of community service.
Williams has previously opened up about his mental and personal troubles amidst his search for a new team. A few months ago, he explained that he wanted to fully focus on football and get his career back on track.
Now, it appears he is very well on his way to doing so. The Sun point out that Williams is on trial at Championship outfit Hull City.
Williams came off the bench for Hull during their pre-season clash against newly-promoted Sunderland on Tuesday evening.
The Carrington academy graduate was introduced to the action in the 77th minute as Hull cruised to a 2-1 win over the Black Cats.
HullLive note that the Tigers are looking for a cover for left-back and Williams will be given the opportunity to impress club boss Sergej Jakirovic and show that he can be relied upon.
Williams will no doubt be determined to make the most of this opportunity and rebuild his life in East Yorkshire.
The defender last played a competitive game in September 2023 and has been ruled out of action for 578 days.
