The Bantams have made a strong start to this summer transfer window.
Bradford City are moving quickly to sign released Stockport County full-back Ibou Touray.
The only way that Bradford are looking after their long-awaited promotion to League One is up. Ambitions are high, as is their activity in the market, and they are reportedly on the verge of securing another strong signing.
Touray is a player that the Bantams are going in hard for, according to Alan Nixon. The left-back is set to leave Stockport County at the end of his contract with them this summer, and appears likely to remain in League One as City move closer to agreeing a deal with him.
The 30-year-old joined Stockport two summers ago from Salford City. He came up into professional football with the Ammies side a flourishing career in the non-leagues. Touray quickly established himself as one of the top players in his position in the fourth tier, ultimately earning himself a move to Edgeley Park.
The Gambian international is looking likely to be the club's second wide defensive addition of the summer, following the arrival of Josh Neufville from AFC Wimbledon. Touray was a mainstay in Dave Challinor's squad that finished third in League One last season. He started 38 times for the Hatters on their way to the play-off semi-finals.
This Stockport to Bradford path is well-trodden. The Bantams' promotion hero Antoni Sarcevic moved to Valley Parade last summer from the League Two champions. He took the plaudits of being the person that sent the club up, although whether he got a touch on the last-minute winner against Fleetwood Town on the final day of the season is very much up for debate.
Like Sarcevic, Touray has the ability to be a real impact signing for Alexander. His performance in League One last season would not have logically led him to join Bradford, a newly promoted team, but they have displayed this pulling power before in this window with the acquisitions of midfielder Max Power and central defender Joe Wright.
Their owner, Stefan Rupp, recently said that the club's budget is top-six level. In Touray, they are set to sign a top-six calibre player.
