After seeing an opening offer for Jobe Bellingham rejected, Borussia Dortmund are now close to reaching an agreement with Sunderland to sign the Englishman, according to Bild.
Dortmund’s original offer didn’t surpass €25m but the Bundesliga side have submitted an offer of €23m plus €5m in future incentives. The newly-promoted Premier League side are holding out for at least €32m including bonuses but the consensus is that the two clubs are close to reaching a final agreement over Bellingham.
Bild note that Sunderland could demand that Dortmund pay the reported €40m release clause, but they don’t want to risk jeopardising the good relationship that they have with the Bellingham family. As such, if everything goes accordingly, then Bellingham could complete his medical check on either Tuesday or Wednesday.
Borussia Dortmund fought off competition to sign Bellingham. On Monday night, the England U21 international agreed to join Borussia Dortmund. This comes after Niko Kovac flew to Sunderland to convince the player, and more recently there was a meeting between BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl and Bellingham in Ibiza.
