Sport Bild reports that Borussia Dortmund and Ivorian striker Sebastien Haller remain miles apart in negotiations to end Haller’s BVB collaboration. Talks between the Bundesliga outfit and its €10m-salaried player were expected to drag out for a long time. The German tabloid reports that Dortmund have offered Haller a €2m severance package. The 31-year-old wants €6m to terminate his contract.

The issue of severance pay oftentimes prevents football clubs from parting company with unwanted players. In the case of the Bundesliga, there have actually been three cases involving RB Leipzig strikers this summer. Leipzig were successfully able to negotiate a €1m severance package for new Hamburg signing (and captain) Yussuf Poulsen, yet remain stuck in the cases of Timo Werner and André Silva.

Should the two camps be unable to agree to terms, it remains doubtful that Haller will receive much of a chance to play at BVB. Dortmund remain very busy searching for new strikers on the transfer market and already have German striker Maximilian Beier to either serve alongside or back-up Serhou Guirassy.
