Milan Futuro coach Daniele Bonera admitted that he hoped for three points in yesterday’s relegation six-pointer against Sestri Levante.
The Futuro twice led against fellow strugglers Sestri Levante at the Stadio Felice Chinetti, but were twice pegged back and had to share the spoils in what was an entertaining 2-2 draw.
Kevin Zeroli got both the goals for the Rossoneri who remain firmly in a relegation battle, and after the game Bonera reflected on the evening with MilanPress relaying his comments.
“I think that after the defeat in Pescara the team took to the field well, in a positive and aggressive manner. We tried to immediately apply pressure up front, knowing that they too were having some difficulties,” he said.
“We managed to take the lead twice, it is true that their equaliser was due to an individual error: it can happen, obviously it affects a lot but I don’t want to give too much responsibility for an error that can happen.
“The team held the field well, we suffered in the last 10 minutes of the match, where Torriani’s saves will remain in the eyes, but I think it is a fair result.”
On Torriani: “I’m happy with the goalkeeping team, I have a wide choice. Everyone has always been up to the task.”
On Zeroli: “I am very happy: beyond the goal in Perugia, which was a sporadic incident in the match, today he was very present. He wanted the ball, he worked hard and he battled, so I think it is the right path.”
On the upcoming games: “There are a lot of commitments between now and Christmas, so we are already thinking about the Coppa Italia on Wednesday. The boys are also involved in a physical discussion, in the sense that we have to rotate in view of the next league match.
“We are trying to give consistency to our results, we were hoping for a victory but the draw must be accepted for what we did in an excellent first half and a less good second half. As I always say, the journey comes from afar and we are trying to finish this 2024 well.”
