Ahead of the match between Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, our PSG Legends tell us about their fondest memories of the big games and their connection with the fans. Bonaventure Kalou, a Parisian from 2005 to 2007, tells us all about it.
Bonaventure, what is the memory that comes to mind first when you think of the big occasions with Paris Saint-Germain?
‘What I remember most is the atmosphere. Before and during matches here at the Parc. And especially when we were winning! The Parc des Princes and the fans are unforgettable memories.'
How important are the supporters for big matches?
‘The fans helped us win a lot of matches here at the Parc. They knew how to push us when we needed it. And it's a crowd that knows football and knows how to support its team during matches. I remember a passionate, knowledgeable crowd who love football.'
What would be your greatest memory?
‘One of my fondest memories is the noise at the Stade de France after my goal in the Coupe de France final against Marseille in 2006. It's something I can't describe, it's something you have to experience. Even today, that noise still echoes in my head sometimes, that moment when the crowd roars as one, it just gives you shivers.'
