Bompastor hopeful of Kerr return | OneFootball

Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor is hopeful that star striker Sam Kerr will return to action before the end of the season.

Kerr has been out for well over a year now after picking up an ACL injury back in January 2024. That serious injury coupled with legal issues has seen the 31-year-old endure a difficult time off the pitch.

That may soon be over now though with Kerr finally nearing a return to action although her manager  hesitated to give a precise date.

"She's working really hard," the Chelsea coach said. "All the performance staff are doing everything for her to play this season.

"We'll see how it goes. We know we only have a few games left now. Hopefully, yes, but it's difficult for me to have a clear answer."

With the WSL title almost assured, Chelsea will be hesitant to rush the player back to action. The Blues have four games left in all competitions, three in the league – including a clash with Manchester United on Wednesday – as well as the FA Cup final against the Red Devils in mid-May, a potentially more realistic target.
