That's according to a report from journalist Alan Nixon reporting via Patreon on Good Friday, in what is a major addition to Steven Schumacher's Bolton staff.

Williams has been working in his role as Fleetwood Town's goalkeeping coach since July 2022, after finishing his playing career earlier that same year.

As revealed by Nixon, Bolton are moving for Fleetwood Town's goalkeeping coach following an interview process.

Schumacher is said to be looking for a new specialist coach at that position, and has now set his sights on the 38-year-old.

William's experience gained as a coach with Fleetwood is understood to have been the driving force behind him becoming a target for Bolton.

The Wanderers have been struggling to keep the ball from hitting the back of their own net this season, and as such, it will be hoped that Williams can help fix that issue by getting to work with the club's crop of goalkeepers.

Williams' name will certainly be familiar not only with Welsh football supporters, but also EFL fans too from his days as a professional.

Despite making just one appearance for his national side, Williams was a member of the Wales squad that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016, having first been called up by his national team in 2009, to his last call up in 2020.

Having started his career at Crewe Alexandra, the experienced shot-stopper would make over 180 appearances for Tranmere Rovers between July 2011-June 2015, as well as over 90 appearances for Stockport County, and a further 22 for Rochdale respectively.

He would also spend time plying his trade in Scottish football with the likes of Inverness, Hamilton Academical and Dunfermline Athletic respectively, whilst also spending a season on loan in America with Indy Eleven in 2018.

Therefore, the Welshman would bring a wealth of experience and know-how to Bolton Wanderers, and is clearly a young goalkeeping coach who is building a reputation for himself in the coaching game.
