Mauricio Pochettino remains in the dark over his Chelsea future but insisted his “phone is going to be on” following Chelsea’s win against Bournemouth.

Despite finishing the season with five wins in a row for the first time under the new ownership, and being the fourth best team in the league in 2024, a significant improvement from the first half of the season, the Argetnine’s future is still up in the air.

Now the season is completed, Pochettino will sit down with the powers that be for an end of season review which will decide his future at Stamford Bridge.

Pochettino still in the dark over his future

The 52-year-old, who signed a two year contract with the Blues last summer has been under pressure for large parts of the season with many supporters wanting him sacked.

Pochettino deserves credit for the the turn around in the second half of the season, and for the togetherness he’s created within the squad, but it remains to be seen if the upturn in form is enough for him to keep his job.

The former Tottenham manager revealed he had dinner with Todd Boehly on Friday night but refused to go into details about what was discussed between the pair.

Pochettino remains in the dark over his Chelsea future.

Any decision to sack Pochettino would have to be unanimously agreed on by Boehly and Clearlake Capital, with the Argentine believed to have backing of key members in the hierarchy.

After the game Pochettino admitted he wasn’t sure when the season review would take place but that his phone “would be on.”

“I don’t know if that is going to happen or not”, Pochettino told The Guardian.

“I don’t have any idea about this, all I can tell you is on Friday night, Todd invited me for a dinner and it was a very nice dinner together.

“But I don’t know about the rumours about the review, my staff tomorrow are flying for their holidays.

“I am going to stay in London for a few more days, I am always open, my phone is going to be on.”

At this stage given the improvement in form, how much the players like him and the lack of options on the market, it would make no sense for the club to replace him, but this is Chelsea so you always have to expect the unexpected.
