Anderlecht have already been dealt a blow just a week ahead of the start of the new Pro League season in Belgium. As reported by HLN, summer signing Ilay Camara is set to miss three weeks with an injury. Anderlecht spent €4.5m to bring Camara to Brussels from Standard Liege but the defender will now miss the first two league matches against Westerlo and Cercle Brugge at least. He will also miss the sides Europa League qualifier against Swedish side BK Häcken.
The 22-year-old Senegalese left-back actually started his career with Anderlecht before leaving in the summer of 2023. He joined another side in the Belgian capital in RWDM, playing one season in the Pro League with the side. After three goals and six assists in 31 games he went on loan to Standard Liege following RWDM’s relegation. Standard picked up the purchase option on Camara after two assists in 36 games before selling him back to Anderlecht this summer.
