After a disappointing campaign for Blackburn Rovers, which saw them survive on the final day of the season, John Eustace will be looking to bolster his squad this summer to move up the Championship table.

Considering Rovers only just missed out on the play-offs last season, securing Championship survival on the final day certainly wasn't expected and had it not been for Sammie Szmodics' goals, they would have been relegated.

That's in the past now, though, and Rovers will be a Championship side next season, which is all that matters.

Eustace took over in February, helping the club survive, and this summer will be the first time he's able to put his own stamp on the squad and make some signings.

He showed at Birmingham City that he can build a decent side, and he may look to reunite with some players he worked with at St Andrew's following their relegation.

One of these players is Leeds United right-back Cody Drameh, who Eustace signed on a season-long loan last term.

Drameh has shown during numerous Championship loan spells that he's a very good player at this level and has perhaps been unfortunate to break into Leeds' first team.

In the last couple of seasons, he has spent time on loan with Cardiff City, where he helped the Bluebirds survive, Luton Town, where he won promotion, and more recently at Birmingham City, where he was relegated.

Despite being relegated, Drameh's stock shouldn't have dropped too much, and he's shown in the past that he's capable of being an excellent player at this level. Despite the Blues' relegation, he was actually one player to emerge from a dreadful season with a little bit of credit in the bank.

Eustace is also clearly a big fan of the player, bringing him to Birmingham, and it makes sense for him to try and arrange another deal for the player this summer.

Rovers have Callum Brittain and Joe Rankin-Costello able to play on the right side of defence and, whilst the pair have performed well in difficult circumstances, Drameh could oust them from the side if he's able to reach his full potential, and being younger than the pair, the Leeds man would have a higher re-sale value if he performs well.

Drameh's move to St Andrew's included the option to make it permanent at the end of this season, but following relegation, it remains unclear if the player will want to drop to League One.

Birmingham weren't alone in their transfer interest for the right-back last summer, with Hull and West Brom interested too, but Drameh chose Birmingham thanks to the project that was building, according to The Yorkshire Evening Post.

This shows that Eustace is capable of convincing him to join the club, and he should do so this summer.

Cody Drameh will attract a lot of attention as a free agent

Football Insider reported in March that Cody Drameh had played his last game for Leeds United, and will become a free agent this summer.

Leeds signed the right-back from Fulham in 2020, but he has never been able to nail down a regular place in the Leeds side, which was understandable during their time in the Premier League, but perhaps he should have been given more of a chance in the Championship this season given the fact that Leeds have had their issues at right-back.

In total, the England U21 international made just ten first-team appearances for Leeds, but it's his form on loan in the Championship that will see him receive a lot of interest this summer.

As a free agent, you'd have thought that the majority of clubs in the Championship would at least be keeping an eye on Drameh's situation this summer. The 22-year-old has proved to be a good player at this level and will only continue to improve.

Given his talent right now and age, if Drameh was signed on a long-term contract, the club who signed him could be set to make a big transfer fee from the right-back, as he'll likely have a high resale value in the years to come.

John Eustace should certainly be using his previous experience of working with Drameh to bring him to Ewood Park this summer or, at the very least, be seriously considering it.
