Rovers are hoping to bring the former Blues wideman to Ewood Park.
Blackburn Rovers are attempting to sign former Birmingham City star and current Bochum winger Koji Miyoshi.
Rovers have been able to make a handful of new signings so far this summer, as Valerien Ismael looks to build upon his team's strong finish to the 24/25 season heading into the start of the new campaign.
Axel Henriksson, Lewis Miller, Dion De Neve and Sean McLoughlin are some of the new arrivals at Ewood Park.
However, there have been some notable departures too, with Callum Brittain, Tyrhys Dolan, Joe Rankin-Costello and Andreas Weimann all leaving the club this summer.
Blackburn appear to have their next transfer target lined up, however.
A report from journalist Alan Nixon via his Patreon on Wednesday evening has revealed that Rovers are trying to sign former Birmingham City and current Bochum wideman, Koji Miyoshi.
Nixon states that the 28-year-old is interested in the move to Ewood Park, with a potential motivation being the chance to play more regular football ahead of next year's World Cup, in which he hopes he will be a part of with his national side, Japan.
Blackburn are understood to be keen on purchasing the former Birmingham man, despite having only signed for the German side last summer, but they were relegated to the 2. Bundesliga in 24/25.
Nixon's report claims that Blackburn may need to fork out £2m in order to seal a deal for Miyoshi, but it's stated that the club do have the funds in order to sanction a deal at that price point.
Miyoshi already qualifies for a work permit to play in England due to his international caps for Japan (five) and the division that he plays in for Bochum, and a move to East Lancashire would see him link up with fellow Japanese star, Yuki Ohashi.
Miyoshi is contracted with Bochum until the summer of 2028.
Having lost Dolan this summer on a free transfer to Espanyol, Blackburn will need to find his successor on the right wing.
Despite being comfortable playing across the forward line and in midfield, Miyoshi is a right-winger by trade, and that's where he spent a significant amount of time playing for Birmingham City.
He would make 43 Championship appearances for Brum in the 23/24 season, scoring six goals and providing a further six assists for the Blues that year.
As such, he's showcased his ability to perform and produce at second tier level, with those numbers being even more impressive when you consider that was in a Birmingham team that was relegated to League One.
So, whilst his move to Germany hasn't quite worked out for him, Miyoshi has strong and recent Championship pedigree on his CV, and with Blackburn desperately in need of further depth on that right side even after the arrival of Ryan Alebiosu, he could be a very shrewd addition indeed.
