Blackburn Rovers will be aiming to fight for promotion to the Premier League this season under Valerien Ismael.
The Lancashire outfit narrowly missed out on a top six finish in the previous campaign, coming seventh in the table.
Ismael’s side came just two points behind Bristol City, so will want to bridge that gap over the next year and fight for a return to the top flight.
This summer will be a crucial step in that process, with the Croatian now having the chance to leave his mark on the squad after being appointed manager in February.
Here we look at all the latest news surrounding Blackburn…
Callum Brittain’s future at Blackburn is currently in doubt this summer, with the defender entering the final 12 months of his current contract.
According to Teesside Live, the full-back is an option for Boro following the appointment of Rob Edwards as manager.
Talks have not yet taken place between the two clubs, with Rovers understood to be keen to keep the defender beyond the transfer market.
The 27-year-old featured 33 times in the Championship last season, contributing two goals and five assists for the Lancashire outfit.
It was reported on Thursday by Alan Nixon that Blackburn are hoping to seal a deal for midfielder Moussa Baradji.
It was claimed that a £1.5 million deal was close to being finalised, with Ismael looking to bolster his options for next season.
However, it has now been reported by the Lancashire Telegraph that talks between the two clubs have now stalled.
It’s believed that discussions will continue through the weekend, with there still being hope that a deal can be reached between all parties.
Charlton Athletic have submitted an offer to sign Joe Rankin-Costello from Blackburn this summer.
According to Alan Nixon, the Addicks have made an offer worth £750,000 for the 25-year-old, with the London outfit preparing for life in the Championship.
It’s understood that Charlton have fended off rival bids to lead the race to win his signature, with a departure now expected.
Rankin-Costello has been with Blackburn throughout his career, having come through the academy system, but started just 13 of his 29 league appearances in the previous campaign.
Blackburn have completed the signing of Ryan Alebiosu from Dutch side Kortnijk, becoming their third signing of the transfer window.
The full-back has opened up on why he made the switch, crediting the project being built by Ismael as a major contributing factor.
“I’m completely over the moon and it was a no-brainer for me to join this big, historical club that has seen so many players develop over the years,” said Alebiosu, via the club’s official website.
“When I got the call, as someone who wants to develop, it was a no-brainer and I can’t wait to get started.
“The call came a week or so ago and I had meetings with the Head of Football Operations (Rudy Gestede) and the manager about the project here, and it was something I wanted to be a part of.
“Last season the club just missed out on the play-offs and that has only motivated me even more to be a part of this project.
“The project and the plans were sold to me. I was told how I would be used in the system and how the club wants to build.
“I liked everything the manager said about how he wants his full-backs to play.
“I’m very attacking and I believe that he’ll be able to help my game defensively, be even better, push me on and be at a stage to get to where I know and he knows I can get to.
“Showing me the plan and how he thinks I can play in this system, I think it will really suit me.”
