Blackburn Rovers comfortably defeated Wrexham in a 4-1 FA Cup home win.

The League Two high-flyers took a shock lead after 20 minutes when Andy Cannon struck a fierce effort past Aynsley Pears at his hear post.

Blackburn responded sharply through Sammie Szmodics who finished first time after a smart cutback from Sam Gallagher 12 minutes later.

A goalkeeping howler from Arthur Okonkwo gifted Gallagher an easy opportunity to double his sides lead, which he took instantly; sliding the ball calmly past the oncoming keeper.

Szmodics then ended Wrexham’s night early just before the halftime whistle when he finished coolly into the bottom right corner for his fifth FA Cup goal of the season and his 21st in all competitions.

Sondre Tronstad got in on the action the Championship sides fourth, striking the ball powerfully into the top left corner to add insult to injury for Phil Parkinson’s side.
