Birmingham City are interested in signing Burnley goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell in the summer transfer window.

That's according to a report from The Daily Mirror's Live Transfer Blog (24/06,13:15), who say that Blues are one of a number of potential suitors for the 27-year-old.

Peacock-Farrell joined Burnley back in the summer of 2019, when he arrived from Leeds United for a reported £2.5million.

Since then however, the goalkeeper has struggled to establish himself at Turf Moor, making just a handful of appearances for the Clarets.

He also spent the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, and the most recent campaign saw him loaned to Danish side Aarhus.

Now it seems as though there is a chance he could be on the move again before the start of the 2024-25 season.

Birmingham City keen on Burnley goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell

As per this latest update, Birmingham City are looking into a move for Peacock-Farrell this summer, as they aim to add to their options in goal.

It is thought that the Midlands club are one of a number of sides who are monitoring the situation of Peacock-Farrell, as they consider a move for him this summer.

There are currently 12 months remaining on the 27-year-old's contract with Burnley, securing his future at Turf Moor until the end of this season.

That of course, means that the current transfer market could be their last chance to cash in on the goalkeeper.

As well as his club exploits, Peacock-Farrell has also been capped 46 times at senior international level by the Republic of Ireland.

Birmingham have already signed one goalkeeper this summer, with Ryan Allsop joining from Hull City to become the club's first signing of the summer transfer window.

Both Blues and Burnley will be looking to bounce back from relegations in the coming campaign.

Birmingham were relegated from the Championship to League One on the final day of last season.

Burnley meanwhile, will drop back into the Championship during the 2024/25 campaign, after just a single year in the Premier League.

It does feel as though the signing of Peacock-Farrell could be a useful one for Birmingham to make, if they can get it done.

While they have already signed Allsop this summer, the Blues have released Neil Etheridge, and John Ruddy also looks as though he could move on following the expiration of his contract.

As a result, it is likely they are still going to have to source some senior cover and competition for Allsop between the posts before the start of next season.

The addition of Peacock-Farrell would give them another senior goalkeeper to rely on for the coming campaign, and his experience of the Football League could potentially be useful.

Given he is not into the final year of his contract at Turf Moor, and has never really been a regular feature for Burnley, he could be an affordable target for the Blues as well.

With that in mind, this does feel like one deal that could turn out to be worth pursuing for Birmingham, before the window closes at the end of August.
