Liverpool reportedly look to have been handed some very welcome news as Luis Diaz is said to be keen on signing a new contract at Anfield.

It’s been a great season on the pitch for Arne Slot’s side, but away from the field the club have been plagued by constant speculation over some of their star players.

All three of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are out of contract this summer, while Diaz’s future has also seemed uncertain at times.

Sport have reported that Liverpool could be ready to sell the Colombia international, while Fichajes have linked him as a top target for Barcelona.

Now, however, a report from TBR Football claims that Diaz’s camp have informed LFC of their desire to sign a new contract.

Diaz is a key player for Liverpool, so it’s a big boost for the Reds if he decides to stay when there’s the risk of the likes of Salah possibly leaving for free.

It seems clear that Diaz could play for a number of top clubs around the world, so it’s vital for Slot to still have him as an option in his squad next season.

However, one issue for Liverpool, according to TBR Football’s report, is that they’re so tied up with sorting out Salah, Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk’s contracts that it’s given them little time to focus on others.

This has also meant that little progress has been made on new deals for the likes of Ibrahima Konate and Curtis Jones.

It remains to be seen what this could do to Diaz’s contract talks, but for now at least the club will surely see it as a big positive that he’s still focused and committed to them.
