Bianconere progress to quarter-finals with victory over Verona | OneFootball

Juventus Women’s First Team were in fine form as they began their Coppa Italia campaign in the best possible manner.

The Bianconere scored four goals in the first twenty minutes of the match and thus defeated Hellas Verona – who currently ply their trade in the women's second division - 0-4 in the competition’s round of 16 stage. In the next round Massimiliano Canzi's team will face Lazio in a two-legged encounter.

There are many positives to take from this trip to Veneto: one of them was our team's ability to create chances for so many different players. Even today, Wednesday 6 November 2024, four different players got on the score sheet: Sofia Cantore, Chiara Beccari, Lisa Boattin and Amalie Vangsgaard.

THE MATCH REPORT

Massimiliano Canzi decided to make ten changes to the starting line-up compared to the side that took on Napoli on Sunday 3 November, in order to allow several players to rest, given the packed schedule that Juventus Women face in the coming weeks.

The result? Simply extraordinary. The response of the girls chosen by the Juventus coach was exceptional and the scoreboard confirmed it: the score already read 0-4 after just twenty minutes.

The Bianconere came flying out of the blocks through Vangsgaard who struck the crossbar with a left-footed effort after just 2 minutes. Two minutes later the Danish player again threatened to open the scoring but was unable to do so. Cantore succeeded a few moments later when, having been picked out by Valentina Bergamaschi, she controlled the ball and struck her shot past Nikol Rubinaccio, 0-1.

Juventus doubled their lead less than two minutes later: this time it was Beccari who, after latching onto a rebound, fired her effort into the top corner, 0-2.

Juventus Women were dominant. The Bianconere continued to push on and they scored their third directly from a corner kick from a fantastic effort by Boattin to score her first goal of the season, 0-3. A great goal for Boattin and the Bianconere were in dreamland.

Hellas Verona were unable to regroup and pose a threat to Massimiliano Canzi's team: they managed an effort on goal in the 18th minute, but failed to trouble Alessia Capelletti who easily dealt with Giulia Mancuso's strike.

A few minutes passed before Juventus were back on the front foot. This time Vangsgaard didn't miss and, following an inch-perfect cross from Cantore, headed past Rubinaccio to make it 4-0.

As previously mentioned, Vangsgaard’s goal to make it 4-0 came in the 20th minute, and the Bianconere continued to try and extend their lead in the rest of the first half, but both Asia Bragonzi and Viola Calligaris saw their goals ruled out for a foul on Rachele Peretti and an offside infringement respectively.

The first half ended in Verona with Juventus in total control.

At the start of the second half Massimiliano Canzi turned to the bench, making the first three changes of the match.

Fresh reinforcements for the Bianconere who did not extend their lead in the second period, but at the same time did not concede, maintaining a comfortable advantage over Verona.

It must be said, however, that the chance creation of our players did not decrease, but due to a multitude of reasons they were unable to find a fifth goal: in the 49th minute, Martina Rosucci was denied by an excellent save from Rubinaccio who pushed the ball onto the post following Rosucci’s effort from a corner.

Hellas Verona’s goalkeeper had an excellent second half, making several more outstanding saves from Alisha Lehmann, then pushing Cristiana Girelli’s effort onto the post before also denying Bragonzi.

In the closing stages the match became stretched with chances at both ends, but the scoreline remained the same. The Bianconere were victorious in Verona and book their place in the quarter-finals of the Italian cup.

I am very happy with the four goals scored, but at the same time I am also satisfied with how we managed the second half. True, in the second half we did not score, but the attacking play was excellent.
