According to UK Betting site, Bet365, there was a 64% increase in bets placed at Euro 2025 compared to the previous tournament hosted by England in 2022.

With both tournaments holding various similarities including reasonable kick off times and England progressing to the final, the rise reflects the increase in popularity of women’s football.

“The interest in Women’s football continues to grow at a rate of knots and having a successful Lionesses team certainly helps from a UK turnover perspective.” Stated Steve Freeth, a sports and trading expert with Bet365.

“The cherry on top being a number of bookmaker-friendly results at the business end of the tournament.”

Bookmakers win as Lionesses secure Euro 2025 success

There is no doubt that England’s progression through the tournament before winning the final played a huge part in the betting this summer.

The Lionesses final against Spain was unsurprisingly the most bet on game of the tournament.

Again there was a rise in wagers for Bet365 compared to the previous final with a 63% increase from England’s improbable extra time win against Germany in 2022.

It wasn’t just previous Euros numbers that the final eclipsed though. The popular UK bookmaker also reported growth compared to the World Cup final in 2023.

The Lionesses also faced off with Spain for the World Cup final but the rematch this summer saw 16% more bets placed.

Punters also wagered 5% more on average than the 2023 final.

Women’s football continues to grow

With women’s football expected to eclipse 800 million supporters by 2030 the next Euros in 2029 could see another big rise in betting.

The Lionesses are currently 3/1 to complete a Euros hat-trick in 2029 with UK Betting sites.

All sorts of records were broken at Euro 2025, as more fans than ever tuning in to support all nations.

Bookmakers also saw some record numbers from the tournament, with three games including the final ranking in the top ten most bet on fixtures for Bet365 in 2025.

England’s final against Spain was the most bet on fixture this year according to Bet365.
