Chelsea expect Enzo Maresca to go on a deep run in the Club World Cup this summer according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

The Blues recorded a confidence boosting 4-0 win against Southampton on Tuesday night and they now sit fifth, just two points from third, but also four points from tenth, with the race for Champions League football so tight.

Having started the season so well, the Blues are currently on a run of just three wins in their last 11 league matches, and need to pick their form up quickly if Maresca is to achieve his targets.

Chelsea expect deep Club World Cup run from Maresca

The Blues are right in the race for Champions League qualification, but having been dumped out of both domestic cups, the only opportunity of silverware is now the Conference League.

However, there is another opportunity in the summer with the first edition of the newly revamped Club World Cup taking place in America, with John Terry stating the Blues will go all out to win the competition.

Chelsea have been drawn in Group C with Mexican side Club Leon, Brazilian outfit Flamengo and Espérance Sportive de Tunis of Tunisia.

The tournament will take place between the 14th June and 13th of July 2025, meaning there’s not much time to prepare after the end of the season, whilst if Chelsea go far there’s a very short turn around before the start of the new Premier League campaign.

Chelsea have won the Club World Cup in it’s previous iteration under Thomas Tuchel, and Jacobs has reported the Blues expect Maresca to have a deep run in the competition.

Jacobs adds that the winners will pocket around £120m, although the exact breakdown of what clubs will get is unclear.

It will be a tough task to win the competition given the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain and Bayern Munich will be competing, but the most important thing is Chelsea give a good account of themselves.
