On matchday 12 of the ongoing 2024/25 Bundesliga season, Bayern Munich travelled to Signal Iduna Park to take on Borussia Dortmund in this season’s first edition of two Der Klassiker encounters.
Following a narrow 1-0 win over PSG in the Champions League four days earlier, despite the packed schedule and absentees due to injury, Bayern would have fancied their chances of extending their winning run to eight games. However, all things considered, with Dortmund boasting a 100% home record this season it was always going to be a tall order for the visitors to come away with all three points.
After conceding the opening goal in the 27th minute, Die Roten wasn’t able to draw level until the 85th minute. Despite having twice the number of shots and enjoying significantly more possession than Dortmund, Bayern ultimately had to settle for a draw. Let us now take a look at the three players whose performances stood out in the 1-1 draw with Dortmund on Saturday evening.
