Manchester City target and Bayern Munich star midfielder Joshua Kimmich has the Etihad club on his list of destinations he would accept in the event of a switch.

The Germany international is currently firmly focussed on events in his home nation, as he and his teammates pursue European Championships glory ahead of a number of fierce competitors for the illustrious crown.

Manchester City themselves are strongly represented at the tournament this summer, boasting the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku for Belgium, as well as John Stones, Kyle Walker, and Phil Foden for England.

Two of Manchester City’s stars have already exited the tournament at the group stage however, with Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic crashing out with Croatia prior to the completion of the rest of the group stage fixtures.

But there could be further motivation to keep an eye on performances elsewhere in the tournament, with Germany’s Joshua Kimmich being a player of interest to Manchester City, and potentially a player interested himself in the Premier League champions.

As per the information of Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Joshua Kimmich could leave Bayern Munich this summer in the event of a ‘suitable’ offer, with the Bundesliga giants holding no plans about a contract extension beyond 2025.

It is further explained that newly-appointed manager Vincent Kompany has other plans for central midfield away from the 29-year-old, while Fulham’s Joao Palhinha remains the desired target at the Allianz Arena.

As such, the report reveals a ‘separation’ between the two is ‘getting closer’, either now or in 2025 at the latest. On the subject of possible destinations, Plettenberg reveals that Kimmich would ‘only want to join’ Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Real Madrid, or Barcelona.

Manchester City’s interest in central midfielders this summer extends beyond the experienced Bayern Munich superstar however, with the wider understanding being that Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes is a primary target for Etihad Stadium bosses.

The Brazil international has already seen his release clause at St James’ Park expire this month however, with clubs having the opportunity to take any decision out of Newcastle’s hands for a £100 million fee.

There remains some element of doubt over a number of Manchester City’s existing options in the middle of the park, with Kevin De Bruyne attracting interest from Saudi Arabia, whilst Bernardo Silva continues to field any possible interest in the hope of an Etihad exit.
