Bayern Munich always look for market opportunities in the transfer windows especially when a highly rated Bundesliga player is available on a free transfer. They are currently eyeing a move for youngster Tom Bischof from Hoffenheim.
In recent days, it has been reported by Florian Plettenberg (via iMiaSanMia) that Bayern Munich have made a written contract offer to highly rated Hoffenheim midfielder Tom Bischof. Furthermore, he suggests that Frankfurt are also interested in the player and “various other clubs," but they and Hoffenheim both believe the player will end up at Bayern in the end.
Elsewhere, Kicker has reported that Die Roten are not planning to immediately loan the player out, and how he will replace Leon Goretzka’s place in the team — with the teenager set to be fourth choice midfielder after Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlović, and Joao Palhinha.
Despite being just 19 years of age, Bischof has already played 1025 Bundesliga minutes this season — scoring twice, assisting once, and creating four big chances. He also has started all six of his side’s Europa League campaign. Owing to his quick progression, he was fast-tracked from Germany U20s to the U21 side in the autumn.
Another tick in the box is his versatility. Despite being a central midfielder by trade, the Hoffenheim man has also played off the right-hand side a number of times so far this season and scored while playing there in a recent draw at home against Freiburg.
As it stands, the German U21 international currently has just six months left on his contract at Hoffenheim, so you would assume that he will be available for a fairly modest fee — that, or on a free transfer in the summer.
Regardless, Bischof is a top-quality versatile, and promising player with bags of potential, and a move to Bayern would be a very smart piece of business from the club - whenever it happens. Let’s hope the club will be able to strike a deal.
Considering Bayern's efforts to sign Bischof, it looks certain that Goretzka will leave at the end of the season. The German midfielder was told to find a new club last summer, but he decided to fight for game time in Munich. After enduring slow start to the season, Goretzka managed to get minutes on the pitch when Palhinha and Pavlovic were out due to injury. However, the Bavarian club still plans to part ways with him in the summer despite delivering good performances under Kompany.
