On Wednesday evening, Bayern Munich will play their first-ever match day seven in the Champions League, when they face Dutch side Feyenoord in Rotterdam. Let's take a look at what we can expect from our hosts.

What Bayern Munich can expect from Feyenoord on Wednesday

It has been a disappointing start to domestic life for our hosts, currently sitting in fourth place in the Eredivisie, with 36 points from their 19 Eredivise games. Quite the far cry from their recent seasons. In the 22/23 seasons, they won the league with 82 points, and then improved that season - with 84 points - though PSV's historical season meant they had to make do with second.

Part of this downfall will be attributed to the loss of Arne Slot, who left for Liverpool in the summer and has done incredibly well. Understandably, there will be a drop-off after losing a manager of such pedigree.

Meanwhile, in the Champions League, the Rotterdam side currently sit 18th in the standings, with 10 points from their six games. Most notably, they came back from 3-0 down against Manchester City at the Etihad, to rescue a 3-3 draw.

Elsewhere in the competition, they have lost 4-1 at home to Bayer Leverkusen, won 3-2 away to Girona, won 3-1 away to Benfica, lost 3-1 at home to RB Salzburg, and won 4-2 at home to Sparta Praha.

In terms of personnel, Mexican international Santiago Gimenez up front tends to be their dangerman. Last season he scored 23 league goals, and already has seven in 11 so far this term. In the Champions League, he has scored twice in 177 minutes, including a goal in that draw against City.

At the back, Slovakian versatile defender David Hancko has been linked with several clubs in Europe's top five leagues. In midfield, Quinten Timber is also seen as someone with a lot of quality.

When it comes to playing style, Bryan Priske - who replaced Slot in the summer - tends to set Feyenoord up in a 4-1-4-1 formation. In the Champions League, which feels like a better way to measure things than the Eredivisie - they rank 27th out of 34 teams for possession, with 45.5% - so we can probably guess how they will set up on Wednesday evening.
