With just over one week of the transfer window remaining, Bayer Leverkusen could yet further strengthen their squad. According to Florian Plettenberg, die Werkself have added Feyenoord’s Quinten Timber (24) to their shortlist, and is one of three candidates for the Bundesliga club.
This comes after Simon Rolfes, Bayer Leverkusen’s sporting director, confirmed in an interview with RP that he “expects the next 10 days to be intense” and that they are “still working on transfers – both incoming and outgoing.” Timber – twin brother of Arsenal defender Jurrien – is valued at €30m by Transfermarkt, and has played in all four games for Robin van Persie’s Feyenoord this season.
Timber has played 105 games across all competitions for the Dutch club, scoring 18 goals and providing 13 assists. Operating in central midfield, the Dutchman will provide competition for Robert Andrich – Bayer Leverkusen’s new captain – Aleix Garcia and Exequiel Palacios following the departure of Granit Xhaka.
One outgoing player appears to be Victor Boniface, who is nearing a move to Milan. Bayer have given Milan the green light to sign the Nigerian forward, who almost left the club for Al-Nassr in January.
