Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement to sign Manchester City winger Farid Alfa-Ruprecht for a deal worth £5 million, as per a new report.

Manchester City have added Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Marcus Bettinelli and Rayan Cherki to their first-team ranks already in this transfer window, having let Kevin De Bruyne and Scott Carson leave at the end of their respective contracts.

Kyle Walker has joined Burnley for a deal that could fetch Etihad Stadium bosses upto £5 million, with James McAtee also set to leave his boyhood club permanently after Manchester City set a £25-30 million price tag on the 22-year-old midfielder.

City are attempting a major revamp of the squad that failed to meet expectations and faltered in the face of an injury crisis last term, with Guardiola’s men recording a meagre third-place Premier League finish with 71 points – their worst tally under Guardiola.

Hugo Viana has steadied the ship after replacing Txiki Begiristain as sporting director, orchestrating a flurry of arrivals in time for the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States last month, where each of Ait-Nouri, Reijnders and Cherki impressed in their first set of games in Manchester City colours.

After completing most of their incoming business in June, the Manchester City are understood to be prioritising the streamlining of Guardiola’s bloated squad and the offloading of injury-riddled, unreliable first-team players who have not been up to the mark of late.

John Stones could leave this summer as the 31-year-old enters the final year of his current deal off the back of another injury-marred season that saw the England international fail to get a consistent look-in amidst City’s very evident need for cover at the heart of defence.

Jack Grealish and Kalvin Phillips have been told to find new clubs before the 2025-26 Premier League season begins in August, which means it is set to be a busy few months ahead of Manchester City bosses to map their squad for the upcoming campaign.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Bayer Leverkusen have agreed a permanent deal to sign Manchester City academy and German winger Farid Alfa-Ruprecht, 19, for £5 million on a long-term contract.

City are understood to have entered a 20% sell-on clause into Alfa-Ruprecht’s contract as they secure a possible future reward for another bright academy star moving abroad to progress his career with regular first-team minutes.

Financial windfalls have come plenty for the Blues over the years courtesy of mouth-watering sell-on clauses entered into contracts for departing academy stars, who have generated a notable total profit for the first-team in the transfer market.

It is likely that Manchester City sanction many more permanent transfers and loan deals for promising academy players between now and the end of the transfer window to bolster their prospects in the market in case they decide to add another player or two to Guardiola’s ranks.
