Recent reports from SPORT have highlighted the challenges Barcelona face regarding Ansu Fati’s situation at the club.

The outlet mentions that while the young forward’s future remains uncertain, his current contract is proving to be a major obstacle for Barcelona for several reasons.

This is because not only does it limit the club’s ability to strengthen the squad, but it also discourages other clubs from pursuing the player.

Barcelona are troubled

It must be noted that Ansu is under contract with Barcelona until 2027 and is among the highest earners in the team.

This significant salary has become a point of concern for the club, especially since his recurring injuries have prevented him from performing consistently at a level that would justify his wages.

The financial strain is even more evident given Barcelona’s tight salary cap, which has made it difficult for them to register players like Dani Olmo or Pau Víctor under normal conditions.

The club’s management is particularly worried about the impact of his salary on their future plans. While they are obligated to honour his contract, it restricts their ability to make further signings.

No one wants to share his wage

Furthermore, the high wage package has deterred several interested clubs from pursuing Ansu.

Although there has been some interest in the player, potential suitors are often discouraged when they learn about his current earnings.

Barcelona would ideally like to sell Ansu to free up space in their wage bill and generate funds.

However, the club recognises that this is currently a challenging task due to the various complications surrounding the player.

As a result, the focus has shifted to helping him regain his best form on the pitch. The belief is that improving his performance will not only restore his value in footballing terms but also make him a more attractive prospect in the transfer market.
