Barcelona want to sign a top left-winger this summer, but the financial situation of the club makes it difficult in the market.

The Catalans are eager to bring in a differential player who can break down opponents on the left flank and it is seen as one of the major priorities for the upcoming summer transfer window.

One of the names that Barcelona have on their agenda for the position is Liverpool and Colombia winger Luis Diaz.

Luis Diaz’s pursuit depends on Raphinha exit

According to Mundo Deportivo, Luis Diaz is the most-liked candidate to reinforce the left flank as far as Barcelona director Deco is concerned.

Deco likes the option of Diaz due to his experience at the highest level with Porto and now Liverpool. However, the 27-year-old Colombian international is contracted with the Reds and will not come cheap.

As such, his signing can only be activated if Barça were to sell star winger Raphinha for a big sum.

Raphinha, 27, has been a solid and reliable member of the team over the past two seasons but has strong interest from the Premier League and Saudi Arabian markets.

As such, the former Leeds United man is seen as an expendable asset, although Barcelona would only consider his sale for offers of at least €90 million.

Nico Williams the alternative

If Barcelona are unable to part ways with Raphinha, their pursuit of Diaz is likely to come to a halt, with the club then likely to move for Nico Williams.

The Athletic Club and Spain winger is expected to be somewhat less expensive than the Liverpool ace, given that he has a release clause worth €58-60 million in his contract.

Nico and Lamine Yamal would be two young wingers in the squad, while Raphinha would provide the experience that Deco wants on the flanks.
