The year 2024 has been a fruitful one for Lamine Yamal, whose performances for club and country have helped him garner global appeal.
Yamal was recently awarded the prestigious Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d’Or ceremony which was followed by the Golden Boy Award.
Almost three weeks after the winner was announced, Tuttosport has released the final voting details of the Golden Boy award.
In the final results, it has been revealed that Lamine Yamal has set a record with the largest winning margin in the history of the Golden Boy award, securing an astounding 488 points.
This is a significant leap over his closest competitor, Kobbie Mainoo from Manchester United, who amassed 114 points – meaning a win margin of 374 for the Barcelona wonderkid.
Every newspaper voted for Lamine Yamal as their number one choice, with the exceptions being Italy’s “Corriere dello Sport” and Russia’s “Sport-Express”.

Yamal’s record victory came on the back of his stellar breakthrough season in 2023/24, which was followed by triumph at Euro 2024.
This margin of victory is the largest in the history of the Golden Boy award, surpassing the previous record set by Pedri, who won by 199 points over Jude Bellingham in 2021.
Yamal also narrowly beat Bellingham for the highest votes received in a Golden Boy award. The Real Madrid star had attained 97 per cent of the votes last year – 485 out of a possible 500, with the Barça gem getting three more than that.
In addition, there has never been a Golden Boy winner as young as Lamine, who won it at 17 years and 4 months.
Yamal’s win also helped Barcelona continue to dominate the award category, with the likes of Pedri and Gavi bagging the trophy in recent years.
Barça supporters will be hoping Pau Cubarsi is next, with the defensive prodigy already leading the early trends.
