Earlier today, it was reported that FC Barcelona have submitted a fresh offer for Dani Olmo, who has emerged as the club’s priority target after a period of uncertainty in the Nico pursuit.

The Catalans had reportedly submitted an offer worth €55 million, with an additional €7 million in add-ons. This was higher than Leipzig’s €60 million price tag for the midfielder.

The reports further added that Barcelona have reached an agreement with Olmo, who is ready to return to Catalonia after a successful spell in Germany.

Leipzig reject Barcelona proposal

However, in a major development, it appears RB Leipzig have once again rejected Barcelona’s latest proposal for Dani Olmo.

That is according to Sky Deutschland, which suggests the Bundesliga giants remain steadfast in their bid to receive €60 million from the Olmo deal.

The report adds that the rumoured valuation of €55 million + €7 million in add-ons is incorrect, as Leipzig are still yet to receive an offer that matches their €60 million valuation.

Barcelona have continued discussions and are still trying to convince RB Leipzig to offload their star attacker. But for the time being, the two parties are far from agreeing a deal.

This is not surprising considering the fact that Barça have appeared unwilling to meet Leipzig’s €60 million price tag for Olmo.

What’s next for Barcelona?

Barça are unlikely to give up hopes of signing Dani Olmo even after RB Leipzig’s latest rejection.

That is because the Spanish international could become an important attacking target for Barcelona, especially if the club fail to secure the services of Nico Williams.

The coming weeks, therefore, could prove to be critical as Barcelona plan another approach for Olmo. At the same time, the club will keep a close eye on Nico, who is yet to make a final decision over his future.
