Earlier today, multiple sources reported that Barcelona had been informed by La Liga that they were back to the 1:1 Financial Fair Play rule.

Having lost the 1:1 status back in March, having initially returned to it in January, the Blaugrana were said to have been given the green light by La Liga president Javier Tebas himself.

Barcelona on right track, but no confirmation yet

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are progressing in the right direction, but they have not yet completed the process to re-enter the 1:1 Financial Fair Play framework.

Club sources told the aforementioned outlet that “no one from La Liga has informed us that we are already under the 1:1 rule,” despite reports suggesting otherwise.

However, the Blaugrana remain optimistic that this situation will be resolved in the coming weeks.

Following the closure of the 2024-25 financial year on Monday, 30 June, it is now the auditor’s responsibility to prepare the corresponding financial report. Once completed, this report will be submitted to La Liga for validation.

Within the club, there is confidence that financial equilibrium will be achieved, largely due to the recent departures of Clement Lenglet and Ansu Fati, along with ongoing operations for the exits of Pablo Torre and Inaki Pena.

In addition to the salary savings from these departures, the inclusion of the €100 million revenue from the VIP seat lease strengthens the club’s belief that it will meet the conditions for the 1:1 rule. However, this must first be certified by the auditor.

Once the financial controller gives the green light, and La Liga also provides its approval, Barcelona will officially be under the 1:1 financial fair play status and be able to register Joan Garcia.

However, as per the report, Nico Williams’ registration, once he signs, would depend on the departure of a current first-team player with a high salary.
