Barcelona’s most recent performance against Sevilla once again showed that the Catalans are capable of outscoring anyone.
Indeed, the club scored four goals past the Sevilla defence, just one short of the magical five-goal figure which has become commonplace for Barça this season.
As a matter of fact, Barcelona have scored five goals in a single match a whopping 11 times this season, which accounts for 30% of their matches.
This essentially means that Barcelona have managed to score five goals in a single match once in every three matches.
This is discounting the times they have scored four goals in a match, which is no small feat by any means.

Nevertheless, Barcelona’s tally of reaching the five-goal mark 11 times this season means they are only two such games away from matching the club’s own record that was set in the 2014/15 campaign.
In that season, Barcelona, led by Luis Enrique and the famous ‘MSN’, were able to reach the five-goal mark in a single game 13 times – the highest in the 21st century.
Hansi Flick’s Barcelona are just two such matches away from matching that record. Judging by the way they have performed this season, it is not inconceivable to expect them to even breach that record.
Even if Barcelona score five goals in a single game one more time, the club would equal their own tally in the 2015/16 and 2016/17 tally, where they were also led by the MSN.
It must be noted that Barcelona already have the highest frequency of five goals scored in a game in the history of the 21st century, meaning they are on track to setting a new standard by the end of the season.
