Earlier today, we reported that Bayern Munich midfield general and Barcelona target Joshua Kimmich is ever so close to leaving the club as a contract renewal appears off the table.

With his current deal expiring in 2025 and a renewal no longer in sight, a departure appears the most likely resolution. Kimmich has a list of clubs he would prefer to join in that scenario, with Barcelona being one of them.

Bayern set asking price

Now, BILD (h/t Mundo Deportivo) has come forward with an update stating that Bayern Munich have already set a price tag on Kimmich ahead of the summer window.

Indeed, as per the report, if Barcelona or any other club intend to sign the German international this summer, they would need to shell out a sum of around €30-40 million.

Kimmich, 29, has a market value of €50 million, but given his contract situation, the Bavarian giants have to accept a lower sum in order to avoid losing him for nothing next year.

The report states that the record German champions are worried that the midfielder might decide to run down his contract and leave for free in 2025 and as such are ready to compromise on the transfer fee to sell him now itself.

Wages could be a stumbling block

Kimmich, for his part, is ready to test himself in a new club and face a new challenge in his career. And as mentioned earlier, Barcelona are one of the five teams he would be open to joining, along with Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Real Madrid.

Of these five clubs, Barça hold the most concrete interest, although the Premier League sides are also keen on the signing. It could pose a problem for the Catalans.

Another issue for the Blaugrana would be Kimmich’s salary – the German ace would seek wages worth around €20 million per season, which could be out of reach for Barcelona.

For now, everything is on standby as Joan Laporta & co. await to return to the 1:1 rule, following which they will assess the situation and make their moves.
