Ansu Fati’s ongoing frustration at Barcelona is no longer a secret, as the 22-year-old forward now finds himself at a crossroads.

According to a report from SPORT, Barcelona’s technical staff and management are fully aware of his discontent, but they maintain that Ansu was informed of his role back in January and yet he agreed to stay despite limited opportunities.

It must be noted that Ansu’s situation became particularly tense following the clash against Celta Vigo, where he remained an unused substitute.

Despite the match being finely poised, Hansi Flick opted to bring on Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo. Later, Pau Victor was also chosen ahead of Ansu.

As his teammates celebrated a crucial win, Ansu’s visible frustration on the bench sparked intense media attention and speculation about a rift within the squad.

Barcelona understand the situation

Barcelona acknowledges this is a delicate matter. Ansu remains a beloved figure in the dressing room and among fans. However, the club is focused on unity and success as they chase the ambitious goal of a treble.

Behind the scenes, Ansu’s entourage is unhappy with how things have been handled, especially given Flick’s blunt conversation in December, where the German told him to expect very few minutes.

The club also recognises that, from a sporting perspective, his development has stalled, and they are now open to multiple exit scenarios.

Barcelona open to everything

The most favourable route for Barcelona would be a permanent transfer, ideally to a competitive European side. There is even a belief that some markets, particularly outside Europe, could generate substantial offers.

However, Ansu is reluctant to move to Qatar, Saudi Arabia or the UAE, despite the financial benefits such a move might offer.

Other potential options include a loan move, although last season’s spell at Brighton did not go as planned. Barça would still likely have to cover a portion of his salary, which complicates the prospect.

Another possibility, albeit less likely now than before, is a free transfer or contract termination. However, with his deal running until 2027, this would require the club to pay out his remaining salary in full.

Ultimately, while the situation remains complex, Barcelona believe they have handled it transparently, and the ball is now in Ansu’s court to make a decision.
