La Liga giants Barcelona are ready to part with three members of the club’s central defensive ranks this summer.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the latest plans of those behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.
It is of course common knowledge that something of a logjam has built up at the heart of incoming Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick’s backline with a view to next season.
All told, when taking into account established first-team stars, those returning from loan, and breakthrough young talents, the Blaugrana find themselves with eight options at centre-back.
These players come in the form of Andreas Christensen, Pau Cubarsí, Mikayil Faye, Ronald Araújo, Jules Koundé, Clément Lenglet, Iñigo Martínez, Eric García.
With Barca’s financial woes well known, it should in turn come as little surprise to hear of Deco and co. preparing something of a clear-out at the back over the coming weeks and months.
As per the aforementioned Sport, the ‘idea’ is to move three central defenders on, so as to leave a crop of five at the disposal of Hansi Flick.
And, as things stand, the chosen trio is made up of Lenglet, Faye, and Eric García.
