The Barcelona boys are on a roll in the ongoing Euros and Copa America, as the Catalans find themselves well-represented on the international stage.

While the Spanish national team harbours the most Blaugrana players, the exclusion of Pau Cubarsi from Spain’s Euro squad list came across as a bolt from the blue.

Given his string of strong performances throughout the entire season and Spain’s dire need for depth in the centre-back department, his omission was seen with skepticism.

However, Cubarsi is not brooding over the missed opportunity and looks forward to participating in the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.

Cubarsi excited to play the Olympics

Cubarsi claims that he approaches his goals consistently, viewing himself as just another young athlete working hard to improve daily and aiming for impressive feats.

“I feel calm, I try to be myself and not deviate from what I really am; my family helps me a lot with that,” the 17-year-old claimed via Mundo Deportivo.

I approach it as always, as if I were just another youngster working to improve every day and try to achieve a challenge like the Olympic Games, which would be impressive.

“It’s been a very good season. Now we’re facing the Olympic Games, one of the biggest challenges a footballer can face, and we’re approaching them with great enthusiasm and hard work,” Cubarsi added.

Regarding his adaptation to the group, the youngster remarked that the mix of experienced and young players creates a strong foundation.

“There are some younger ones and others more experienced; we are a good group and a good family and everyone is helping me a lot,” he remarked.

On Spain’s opening encounter on July 24, Cubarsi once again conveyed utmost optimism.

“We are really looking forward to it, I am the most excited. We are very excited for the first match to start,” he mentioned.
