In a recent interview with Tot Costa, Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo shared his thoughts on his time at the club, his confidence in the management, and his approach to the upcoming winter transfer window.

Olmo made it clear that he is not concerned about his registration for the winter transfer period. He trusts the club’s decision-makers and is fully focused on his role on the pitch.

The player emphasized that he has complete faith in the Barcelona leadership and believes they will handle the situation accordingly.

“I have blind confidence in the club, they know what they have to do and I only dedicate myself to playing. Now I can and I’m sure that when January comes, too.

I’m not worried, I trust the club one hundred percent,” he began saying.

Reflecting on the team’s recent performance against Real Sociedad, Olmo acknowledged that the match did not go as planned. He admitted that the team was not at its best and recognized the need for improvement.

“We were not fine at Anoeta, we have to improve, but there is a lot of season left.”

The midfielder was also asked about a lighthearted topic regarding the size of Robert Lewandowski’s shoe, which led to a playful comment from Olmo. “I think a 43,” he said.

Nevertheless, he quickly shifted the conversation to a more serious note, stating that offside decisions should not be used as an excuse for poor performance.

“Offside is no excuse. If it’s a mistake it would be big but it’s no excuse, we don’t shoot on goal and we have to keep improving.”

He knew it from the beginning

Olmo expressed his contentment with his return to Barcelona, stating that he was always confident the club was the right fit for him. From the beginning, he felt that joining Barcelona was the best decision for his career.

“I already knew that I would be fine from the beginning, I had the confidence that it was the best club for me and I knew that it would go well,” he said.

He also mentioned the significant support he received from Deco, who helped boost his confidence upon his arrival. This backing from the former player made Olmo feel secure in his decision and reinforced his happiness at being part of the club.

“Deco transmitted to me a confidence that no one had transmitted to me before. It was the best team for me and I didn’t make a mistake, I’m very happy.”

On the team’s goals, Olmo reiterated that Barcelona’s ambitions are limitless. He knew from the outset that the squad was built to compete for every trophy, and their current performances reflect that.

“I knew that it was a team made to win, that we would compete for everything, and it is showing. The objective is maximum,” he explained.

Thoughts on Hansi Flick

Olmo also had high praise for Barcelona’s manager, Hansi Flick. He commended the coach’s communication style, stating that Flick’s messages resonate with the players and that the squad understands his instructions perfectly.

“The way he explains everything. His message reaches 100% and the squad understands it perfectly. At the moment it seems that no, that it does nothing wrong, everything is very good.”

So far, the team has responded well to his approach, and everything is progressing smoothly. Olmo did, however, acknowledge that Flick also demands hard work and discipline from his players.

He emphasized that while Flick is approachable and can share light-hearted moments, he expects professionalism and punctuality from everyone, especially when it comes to training sessions.

“He has moments of grace and laughter like everyone else, but when you have to work, you work seriously. I’m always punctual,” he said.

Finally, Olmo discussed his impressive goal-scoring record at Barcelona, having scored five goals in eight games. He attributed his success to his strong understanding with Pedri, with whom he shares excellent chemistry on the pitch.

“With Pedri, I understand myself perfectly and I knew that I would have many scoring chances every game,” he concluded.
