Along with Dani Olmo, Pau Victor was one of the only two players that FC Barcelona incorporated into their squad in the last summer transfer window.

After an impressive loan spell at Barcelona Atletic, the Catalans secured his permanent transfer from Girona this summer. His standout performances during the pre-season under Hansi Flick led to a contract extension in August, with improved terms keeping him at the club until 2029.

The signing ceremony was attended by President Joan Laporta, Vice-President Rafa Yuste, Sporting Director Deco, along with Pau Victor’s closest relatives and representatives.”

However, at that time, the financial aspects of this agreement were not made public by the club. Reports from the media later indicated that Barcelona had paid €2.5 million to Girona, plus some variables. Other details of the contract, like the release clause, had not been known up to now.

Now, Mundo Deportivo has also revealed the release clause in the player’s contract, as it claims that this amount stands at €100 million.

While this release clause is not low for a player of his stature, this is still significantly lower than what Barcelona has set for some of its other players whose contracts have recently been updated or are in the process of being updated.

For instance, the Catalans themselves announced that Marc Bernal’s release clause was €500 after his recent renewal, and the same is the case for Dani Olmo, who arrived in Barcelona last summer.

On the other hand, one player who recently renewed his contract with the same release clause as Pau Victor is Marc Casado, who also has a €100 million release clause.

While this looked to be a reasonable sum back in June when his contract was renewed, Casado’s importance in the first team has increased significantly in the absence of some more established midfielders, and thus the club might be tempted to get his release clause increased even higher in the months to come.
