A member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Monday issued an apology to all associated with the club.
The player in question? Ferran Torres.
Frontman Ferran of course took his place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya yesterday evening.
Unfortunately for the Spanish international, however, as much came for altogether less than positive reasons.
Introduced off the bench in Barcelona’s 4-1 La Liga drubbing of neighbours Girona, Ferran was shown a straight red card, for a late challenge in his own half.
Many felt as though the decision to send the former Manchester City man off was a harsh one, with his tackle having involved little malice.
Ferran himself, though, is evidently of the opinion that he did indeed make a mistake.
Taking to his official Instagram account, the 24-year-old sent a message the way of all of Barcelona’s supporters, his Blaugrana teammates, and even the recipient of his challenge:
‘We won, which is the most important thing, but I want to take this opportunity to apologize to the team, the fans and the rival player. The urge played me a hard time in that spontaneous action. Thursday starts a new challenge!’
