Barcelona star Fermín López has on Friday moved to reveal his appreciation for something of an unsung hero in the club’s defensive ranks.
The player in question? Iñigo Martínez.
Stopper Iñigo has of course played a starring role for Barcelona over the early months of the new campaign.
Across the Blaugrana’s 14 outings in all competitions to date, the 33-year-old has featured from the off in all but one, developing into something of an on-pitch leader in the process.
Iñigo has even managed to chip in with a goal and two assists.
Speaking to the media on Friday, the aforementioned Fermín López therefore made use of the opportunity to sing the praises of his experienced teammate.
During an interview with Barcelona journalist Gerard Romero, the midfield starlet was drawn on the leaders in Hansi Flick’s squad, and went on to respond:
“Iñigo is our captain without the Barcelona armband.“
