A forgotten member of the defensive ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona sat out the club’s latest first-team training session on Saturday.

The player in question? Héctor Fort.

Full-back Fort has for his part of course taken his place centre stage in the media chatter surrounding Barcelona for several weeks now.

This comes with confirmation that the 19-year-old has fallen out of favour under Hansi Flick having been followed by transfer links with a whole host of clubs.

As things stand, RCD Mallorca, fresh off securing a deal for Jan Virgili, are considered the favourites to land Fort.

And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from Catalunya’s capital on Saturday is anything to go by, then the young defender’s exit now appears closer than ever.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:

‘Héctor Fort was not present at the first team’s training session prior to the match against Rayo Vallecano and will return to play for Barça Atlètic this Sunday, in the friendly against L’Hospitalet. [This comes] to maintain his playing time and gain competitive rhythm while waiting to find a new destination.’
