A head-turning statistic, highlighting the excellence of Barcelona star Pedri in one particular category in the club’s meeting with RCD Mallorca, has come to the fore online.
Barcelona of course kicked the defence of their La Liga title into gear this past weekend, in a trip to Son Moix.
The aforementioned Pedri was for his part afforded a starting berth in boss Hansi Flick’s engine room, alongside midfield partner Frenkie de Jong.
And en route to an eventual 3-0 triumph, the Spanish international conjured up a predictably fine performance.
Excelling on both sides of the ball, Pedri was one of the standout performers in the clash.
And as alluded to above, such efforts on the part of the 22-year-old have since given rise to an altogether noteworthy statistic.
As revealed by statisticians Squawka:
‘Pedri made more accurate passes into the penalty area than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues this weekend (6).’
Not only that, but:
‘He also had more touches (103), completed more passes (82/88), completed more final third passes (46) and created more chances (4) than any other Barcelona player against Mallorca.’
