A member of the goalkeeper ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has knocked back a number of offers to depart the club this summer.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Iñaki Peña as the player in question.

The name of shot-stopper Peña has of course taken its place front and centre in the chatter surrounding Hansi Flick’s Barcelona over the course of the last 48 hours.

This comes after the Spaniard enjoyed an outing to remember, during pre-season.

Afforded a starting berth in the Blaugrana’s friendly meeting with Manchester City in Orlando, Peña shone bright, conjuring up a whole host of wonderful saves.

As much culminated in widespread discussion surrounding the place of the 25-year-old in Hansi Flick’s squad, with Peña, in all likelihood, set to be afforded minimal game-time this season owing to the presence of Marc-André ter Stegen at the Camp Nou.

The daunting challenge in front of him, however, evidently has not dampened Peña’s spirits.

This comes amid confirmation that the goalkeeper wants nothing more than to ultimately secure no.1 status for himself in Catalunya’s capital.

As per a report from Sport:

‘Iñaki Peña, despite being fully aware of who he is competing with for the starting spot in the Barça goal, is not willing to throw in the towel and continues to dream of one day triumphing defending the Barça goal.’

Such ambition even culminated in the ex-Spanish youth international rejecting several ‘very interesting offers’ from across the continent earlier this summer.
