The coaching staff at La Liga giants Barcelona are giving consideration to extending the rest period of midfield star Dani Olmo over the course of the next week.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Friday provided an update on Barca’s latest plans for their summer signing.
Olmo has for his part been sidelined since late last month, owing to a muscular injury suffered en route to the Blaugrana’s 3-0 La Liga downing of Osasuna.
The hope was that the Spanish international would be cleared for competitive action in time to face Leganés this weekend, but this will not be the case.
And if ensuing word stemming from the media on Friday is anything to go by, then Olmo looks increasingly unlikely to play his part in Barca’s Champions League quarter-final 2nd leg meeting with Borussia Dortmund, either.
As per Sport:
‘Barca will not take any risks with him against Borussia Dortmund. The idea is that he would be ready for that match, but the resounding result obtained by Flick’s men in the first leg means that his participation is not necessary.’
